If I control a battlefield on my turn but then move all my units off of it, do I retain control until end of turn and can I still play units there?
Answered under Unleashed Rules FAQ and Clarifications
You keep control of the Battlefield until the next cleanup step, you do not automatically keep control for the rest of the turn. If the Battlefield has no Units and the turn is in an Open state, you will lose control in the following cleanup unless a Combat or Showdown is ongoing . You may play a Unit to that Battlefield before the cleanup finalizes; a Unit play that is pending on the chain can prevent losing control during that cleanup .
After you move all your Units off a Battlefield, you still control it until the next cleanup if the turn is in an Open state, but you will lose control in that following cleanup if nothing else (a Showdown/Combat or a pending play that will occupy it) prevents it .

- 01You move all your Units off a Battlefield while the turn is in an Open state; the game notes the Battlefield has no Units.
- 02Because you currently control the Battlefield, you retain control until the next cleanup step; the rule specifies you lose control in the following cleanup if the Battlefield remains without your Units and there is no Combat or Showdown there .
- 03If, before that cleanup finalizes, you start to play a Unit to that Battlefield, the play goes onto the chain (becomes pending). A pending play that will occupy the Battlefield prevents you from losing control during that cleanup; when cleanup finishes you finalize the pending play and the Battlefield will be occupied again .
