Playing an Action during a Showdown does not immediately end the Showdown Action Step. The played Action starts a chain [347.1.a]. After that chain resolves, Focus continues to pass in turn order (the player who had Focus does not automatically regain it just because their Action finished) [347.4]. The Showdown only ends if all players then pass once in sequence with no spell plays or ability activations between those passes [347.3.a] [348].

When the attacker (the player who had Focus at the Showdown start) casts an Action, that Action becomes a Chain item when played [347.1.a]. Resolving that Action does not itself satisfy the "all players have passed once in sequence" condition that ends a Showdown [347.3.a].
