To play Facebreaker, does there have to be both a friendly unit and an enemy unit? Does the 'do as much as you can' rule apply?
Answered under Unleashed Rules FAQ and Clarifications
You must choose both a friendly unit and an enemy unit at the same battlefield when you put on the chain. There must be at least one battlefield that contains both a friendly and an enemy unit to make those choices; you cannot play it just to stun one unit. The “do as much as you can” idea does not let you play it targeting only one side. If the chosen targets later change zones off the board the targeting relationship is severed; if they merely stop meeting the battlefield requirement but remain on the board, they remain chosen per the targeting rules.
To play you must be able to choose a friendly unit and an enemy unit that are both at the same battlefield as you finalize the spell on the chain. If no such pair exists, you cannot play it. The spell does not get to partially resolve by only stunning one unit at play time. If the chosen targets are later moved to a non-board zone the targeting relationship is broken; if they remain on the board but no longer meet the original battlefield restriction they are still considered chosen by the spell while it’s on the chain.
