When an enemy unit attacks a battlefield you control, give it -1
this turn, to a minimum of 1
.
Legend · Promo
is a Legend that, when an enemy unit attacks a battlefield you control, applies a temporary -1 Might to that attacking unit for the turn, but never reduces that unit below 1 Might. The most common misplay is assuming the effect can reduce a unit to 0 Might or that it always fails if the unit moves or changes controller before the ability resolves — the provided rules make some of those interactions conditional and require careful timing checks () .
The attacking unit is moved to your base or another battlefield before 's triggered ability resolves.
If the unit remains a board game object (i.e., still on some battlefield or base), the ability can still reference and modify that same unit as it resolves, because a relationship to a chosen/triggered object persists while it remains on-board (). If it moved to a non-board zone (e.g., Trash or Banished), it is no longer the same game object and cannot be affected by the resolving ability ().
The attacking unit changes controller after the attack trigger goes on the chain but before 's ability resolves.
Per the linked-trigger guidance, the "enemy" status used by the triggered ability is information referenced from the trigger and is checked on execution of the ability's instructions, so the ability will still attempt to modify the originally referenced attacking unit as specified by the trigger. If the triggered ability itself is stolen or its choices are replaced by another player, resolution may behave differently (see the examples in ) .
The attacking unit has 1 Might already when the ability resolves.
The card text's minimum clause prevents the unit's Might from being reduced below 1, so the unit remains at 1 Might. The reduction is applied but has no effect due to the floor of 1; the temporary nature still applies until end of turn ().
The -1 Might from resolves before Combat Damage during a Showdown where that unit will deal or receive damage.
The unit's decreased Might is part of its current Might and will be used when summing Attacking or Defending Might and when assigning Combat damage in the Combat Damage Step (). This can change how much damage must be assigned to or by that unit and therefore affect lethal calculations and assignment order ().
Does 's -1 Might reduce a unit to 0?
No. The card explicitly prevents reducing the unit below 1 Might, so a unit at 1 Might remains at 1. The change is temporary and will expire at end of turn ().
If the attacking unit is moved off the attacked battlefield (to another battlefield or to my base) before the trigger resolves, will it still get -1 Might?
If the unit remains on the board (any battlefield or base), the triggered ability can still affect that same unit when it resolves because the relationship to the chosen object persists while it remains on-board (). If the unit moved to a non-board zone, it is no longer the same object and cannot be affected ().
If the attacking unit changes controller after the trigger goes on the chain, will it still be affected?
Information like "enemy" used by the triggered ability is referenced from the trigger and checked when the ability's instructions execute, so the ability will still attempt to modify that originally referenced attacking unit even if its controller changed after the trigger was created. If the triggered ability itself is stolen and choices are changed by another player, resolution may behave differently per the linked-trigger examples () .
Does the -1 Might affect Combat damage?
Yes. The unit's current Might (including the temporary -1) is used when summing Attacking and Defending Might and when assigning Combat damage in the Combat Damage Step ().
If the unit gets a Buff after it has been reduced by , how do they combine?
Buffs contribute +1 Might each and apply to the unit's current Might as usual. The temporary -1 from and any Buffs are combined to form the unit's current Might while the -1 is in effect () .
